Seventy Fifth Annual Banquet

Speaker
Dr. Robert J. Carson, Phillips Professor of Geology and Environmental Studies at Whitman College, will give a presentation based on his new book. Dr. Carson edited Where the Great River Bends: A natural and human history of the Columbia at Wallula (2008). This beautiful 240-page book contains 264 illustrations, including historic photographs, paintings and a road log. Copies will be available at the event for purchase and signing by the editor. Dr. Carson will discuss the geology, natural history, and human history of the Wallula area, with emphasis on the geology. There will also be copies of his book Hiking Guide to Washington Geology (Keokee Books, 2009) available for purchase at the event.
Where and When
The 2010 Annual Banquet will be held at the Monarch Hotel, 12566 SE 93rd Avenue near I-205 and Clackamas Town Center. There is ample free parking. Doors to the banquet room open at 12:30; luncheon at 1:00; and program and speaker begin at 2:15. Non-GSOC members are welcome, so invite your friends!

Slow Roasted Pot Roast (accompanied by roasted garlic mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables)
Chicken Piccata (grilled breast of chicken, finished with a light lemon-caper sauce accompanied by rice pilaf and seasonal vegetables)
Pasta Alfredo (penne pasta and fresh vegetables tossed with alfredo sauce and topped with parmesan cheese)
All dinners include garden salad with ranch dressing, rolls with butter, chef's dessert, and coffee, tea, decaf, or iced tea.
