MISSION OF THE SOCIETY

The Geological Society of the Oregon Country (GSOC) is a non-profit organization based in Portland, Oregon. The society is dedicated to the study of geology in the Pacific northwest and is open to persons with all levels of education and professional backgrounds.

SOCIETY AND OTHER HAPPENINGS

  • Don't forget! GSOC Membership Dues - are due in January. Dues paid in December are good for the following year.
  • The nominating committee has selected candidates for the GSOC Board. The last chance for nominations will be at the Holiday Party, December 11, 2011 (see the link below). Voting will take place at our regular February meeting. At this time, candidates are:

    President: Jane Walpole

    Vice President: John Piccininni

    Secretary: Paul Edison-Lahm

    Treasurer: Dawn Juliano

    Director, 3 year: Janet Rasmussen

    Director, 2 year: Julia Manning

    Director, 1 year: Tara Schoffstall

  • GSOC Friday Night Meetings - normally held 7:30 pm, Room S17 Cramer Hall, Portland State University, on the second Friday of the month (except July and August). ROOM S17 IS ON THE SUB-BASEMENT LEVEL OF CRAMER HALL, DIRECTLY BELOW THE GEOLOGY DEPARTMENT’S MAIN OFFICE. 
  • GSOC is proudly selling its new logo mugs. The mugs feature a GSOC logo on each side of the cup, plus the statement 'Supporting Geology in the Pacific Northwest since 1935' and the website address 'GSOC.org' opposite the handle. Pricing schedule is $7 each, two for $13 and four for $25. Contact Richard Bartels or Carol Hasenberg for more information.
