Sheila's Rocks and Minerals Class

This class will be running from February 4th to March 11th 2023 and Sheila Alfsen has recorded an introduction to the class. Unfortunately the class is full, but Sheila may well offer it again sometime later this year.

To whet your interest, here is the 1 hour Intro Class - called Listening to the Rocks.

The class will focus on the description and hands-on identification of the principal rock-forming and economically valuable minerals and the most important igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks of the Pacific Northwest. You will learn the natural processes that form rocks and minerals and the relationships of rock types to their environments of formation. In addition we will discuss, the important uses of minerals and rocks in society and the rock cycle.

Sheila Alfsen is the instructor; she has a long history of education at all levels and enjoys seeing students catch the wonder of our magnificent planet!

Watch on the website or through your email for announcements of a repeat class later this year.
